Words speak louder

I never got that whole sticks and stones thing.

The distinction between actions and words.

Words are actions. "I do." "I declare you husband and wife." "I sentence you to life in prison." "Yes. Yes I am homosexual." "I change my plea to guilty." Who hasn't been consoled by words? Who hasn't been aroused? Who hasn't been hurt? Who hasn't entered into a contract verbally, with every intention of honoring it?

Words are actions.

*Sorry, aber das ist nicht die ganze Wahrheit. Es reicht nicht aus, dass man die Worte nur sagt. Man muss sie auch meinen, und dahinter stehen.

Die Vorstellung, dass W�rtern eine besondere, eigenwirksame Macht innewohnt, findet man sonst vor allem in magisch angehauchten Vorstellungswelten. Zauberspr�che, Fl�che und so.

"I declare you husband and wife" kann jeder Depp sagen und sogar meinen. Rechtswirksam wirds aber noch lange nicht.

"Du bist doof" kann auch jeder sagen. Den Schuh kann man sich dann anziehen - oder es auch sein lassen: "Selber doof!" oder so ;)

Ein Vertrag kann nat�rlich m�ndlich geschlossen werden. Erf�llt wird er in der Regel dadurch noch nicht.

Words might have an impact, but actions speak louder :)

*Magie? Das glaubt so nicht mal der Gesetzgeber; sonst haetten wir nicht libel/slander, Beleidigung, Volksverhetzung, usw.
